Postdoctoral Researcher – Chemistry: A 3-year postdoctoral position is available in the ASTRO team at the PIIM laboratory of Aix-Marseille University in France. The position focuses on the quest for the Origins of Life through prebiotic chemistry experiments. The candidate will work on understanding the chemistry occurring during the early Earth, employing both holistic and reductionist approaches.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, or organic chemistry by the date of appointment.
  • Scientific expertise sufficient to apply for a permanent position at CNRS.

Job Description: The selected candidate will:

  • Establish a chemistry lab dedicated to prebiotic chemistry experiments under the supervision of Pr. Grégoire Danger.
  • Contribute to a holistic approach understanding environmental conditions driving selectivity in molecular diversity.
  • Develop a reductionist approach to investigate reactivity in conditions relevant to the early Earth.
  • Integrate into an interdisciplinary project within the ASTRO team, collaborating with experts in the field.
  • Supervise a PhD student on the holistic approach and work closely with another PhD student on the reductionist approach.

Administrative Information:

  • The position is for three years with a maximum annual salary of 53 k€, depending on experience.
