PhD Position in Chemical Biology: Join the Centre de Biophysique Moléculaire (CBM) CNRS UPR 4301 in Orléans, France, for a fully-funded PhD position in Chemical Biology starting in October 2024. This interdisciplinary project focuses on the discovery and total chemical synthesis of D-proteins for the molecular targeting of tumor glyco-epitopes, offering a unique opportunity to work at the interface of chemistry and biology.
Fully-funded PhD Position in Chemical Biology (3 years)
Location: Centre de Biophysique Moléculaire (CBM) CNRS UPR 4301, Orléans, France
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Synthetic organic chemist interested in the interface of chemistry and biology
- Experience in peptide synthesis and HPLC/LC-MS will be advantageous
- Curious, self-motivated, and goal-oriented researcher
- Committed to working in a multidisciplinary environment as a team player
Description: The project involves the discovery and chemical synthesis of small D-proteins capable of selectively binding glycopeptide epitopes from taMUC1, a clinically-relevant tumor-associated glycoprotein. The candidate will be responsible for the total chemical synthesis and characterization of glycopeptide targets and protein ligands. Additionally, involvement in the phage display discovery process and structural characterization of interacting complexes by X-ray crystallography is anticipated. Collaborations with experienced scientists from the host laboratory, including biologist and pharmacologist Dr. Séverine Morisset-Lopez and structural biologist Dr. Franck Coste, will enrich the research experience.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit a CV, a cover letter, and the names of two referees to Dr. Vincent Aucagne (vincent.aucagne@cnrs-orleans.fr) and Dr. Carlo Piffer (carlo.pifferi@crrs-orleans.fr). Applications will be considered upon reception, and candidates are encouraged not to wait until the last minute to apply.
