Postdoc| Phage-Microbiota Interactions: The Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology (MPIIB) in Berlin-Mitte seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Iatsenko research group in exploring phage-microbiota interactions, focusing on Drosophila models. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biology or related fields, with expertise in metagenome-based characterization of bacteriophage communities and isolation of phages. Prior experience with insects, particularly fruit flies, is advantageous. This position offers an opportunity to work in an international research team, with compensation and benefits as per the Collective Agreement for the Public Sector (TVöD Bund), including a possibility of extension beyond the initial 2-year period.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in biology or related relevant fields
  • Strong computational and experimental lab skills in metagenome-based characterization of bacteriophage communities
  • Proven experience in isolation and characterization of phages
  • Published track record
  • High degree of independence, excellent communication skills
  • Prior experience with insects, especially with natural fruit fly populations is a plus
