Eligibility/Qualification:
- A PhD degree in human geography, sociology, anthropology, environmental studies, or related field
- Clear vision on researching human mobility in relation to environmental change and indigenous knowledge
- Strong background in qualitative research design and methodologies, including ethnography
- Demonstrated publication record
- Preferred: Experience in field-based research in Africa, especially Senegal; Proficiency in French
Job Description:
The selected candidate will conduct high-quality research in collaboration with consortium partners, focusing on semi-nomadic pastoral and fishing communities in Senegal. Responsibilities include developing and supervising research, producing co-authored publications, and engaging in societal output such as media pieces and climate-cultural visualizations. Additionally, the role involves supporting consortium coordination and potentially contributing to teaching programs at Wageningen University.
Key areas of examination include understanding how cultural, mobility, and climate change dimensions are perceived and enacted within communities, the impact of climate change on mobile cultural heritage, adaptation strategies informed by mobile cultural heritage, and the potential adverse effects of place-based sustainability and climate initiatives on mobile cultural heritage.
