Researcher in Supramolecular Chemistry: The University of Siegen, a modern institution dedicated to interdisciplinary research and with an international outlook, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Faculty IV: School of Science and Technology, Chemistry-Biology, Organic Chemistry I. This is a part-time position focused on advancing research in the field of supramolecular chemistry, aiming for a Ph.D.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • An above-average academic degree (Master or equivalent) in Chemistry
  • A Master’s thesis in the field of supramolecular chemistry is advantageous, especially with aspects of organic synthesis and coordination chemistry
  • Experience in the synthesis of organic ligands, coordination complexes, and cage compounds
  • Proficiency in the characterization of supramolecular structures using techniques such as diamagnetic and paramagnetic NMR, UV/vis spectroscopy, and photochemistry
  • Interest or experience in interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Very good knowledge of English; knowledge of German is a plus
  • Participation in scientific exchanges and publications is desirable
  • Experience in teaching, particularly in organic chemistry, is advantageous

Job Description:

  • Conduct independent research in supramolecular chemistry, aiming for a doctoral degree
  • Engage in practical laboratory work, including the synthesis of organic ligands and the investigation of the self-organization and properties of supramolecular structures
  • Collaborate with national and international scientists
  • Contribute to the preparation and editing of scientific publications and progress reports
  • Teach and supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s research projects in organic chemistry
  • Participate actively in research group tasks
  • Promote and embody the values of equal opportunities and diversity in all activities
