PhD Scholarship in Theoretical Biology: The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences at the University of Helsinki is offering a fully-funded 4-year PhD scholarship for a Doctoral Researcher in Theoretical Evolutionary Biology. The selected candidate will work on a research project focused on modeling the evolution of aging, under the supervision of Dr. Piret Avila.
Designation: Doctoral Researcher in Theoretical Evolutionary Biology
Research Area: The research project will focus on understanding the diversity of aging patterns across the tree of life, investigating reasons for negligible aging in some organisms, and exploring sex-specific differences in aging using methods from theoretical evolutionary biology, including evolutionary game theory, adaptive dynamics, population genetics, and optimization theory.
Location: University of Helsinki, Viikki Campus, Finland
Eligibility/Qualification: The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated individual with a Master’s degree in biology, mathematics, physics, economics, or a related field. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills in English, are required. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
