Research Fellow/Associate: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Postdoc/Research Fellow to join Dr. Rodrigo Ledesma-Amaro’s dynamic research team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Principal Investigator, coordinating research, supervising projects and students, applying for grants, writing papers, and assisting in managing the research group.

The RLAlab focuses on synthetic biology and metabolic engineering with an emphasis on sustainability, particularly around foods and fermentation. Research projects include the development of new tools based on cutting-edge synthetic biology, the design and creation of new microbial strains engineered to improve bioproduction of molecules from renewable feedstocks, and the investigation and building of synthetic microbial communities to enhance biotechnology processes.

Eligibility/Qualification:
Applicants must have a PhD in synthetic biology, molecular biology, metabolic engineering, microbial biotechnology (or equivalent) for appointment at Research Associate (Senior Postdoc) level and substantial postdoctoral experience for appointment at Research Fellow level.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be part of the newly created Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein and will be involved in one of the six new mission hubs for Engineering Biology funded by UKRI. They will contribute to driving a step-change in consumption from conventional meat to alternative proteins and accelerating the alternative protein revolution to transform global food systems for greater sustainability, health, and economic viability.
