Designation: Ph.D. Research Associate in Soil Biology and Soil Health
Research Area: The “Sustainable Food Systems” Research Centre focuses on applied, interdisciplinary research in sustainable food systems. Research topics include optimizing nutrient use in agriculture, investigating contaminants such as microplastics and heavy metals on soil processes, and developing adapted agroforestry systems.
Location: Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences – Faculty of Life Sciences, Kleve Campus, Germany
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in agriculture, geoecology, biology, or environmental sciences (or comparable study programs) with excellent results
- Fluent in spoken and written German and English
- Enthusiastic about soil and plant sciences
- Proficient in conducting lab experiments and statistical analysis of data
- Holder of a valid driver’s license
Job Description:
- Collaboration in the Interreg project SHAPE (Soil Health Check and Practices) to investigate the influence of agricultural measures on soil health
- Scientific co-operation with corporate and scientific partners from Germany and the Netherlands
- Development and design of field and lab experiments
- Soil microbiological, soil chemical, and soil physical analyses
- Validation of new monitoring systems for soil biology and soil health
- Statistical evaluation of results and scientific publication
- Communication of findings in scientific conferences and meetings with practitioners
