Postdoctoral Research Positions: The Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) is seeking applications for three part-time postdoctoral research roles as part of an NSF project focused on open-source health hardware. This project aims to create an Open Healthware Ecosystem to facilitate the development and certification of health-related open hardware, focusing on standardization, education, documentation, quality assurance, and testing protocols.
Postdoctoral Research Positions – Open Source Health Hardware Project

- Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants must hold a PhD and have experience in biomedical engineering, biomedical engineering policy, or similar field. They should possess knowledge about manufacturing health or medical devices, or about policy and standards in that area. Additionally, familiarity with open source hardware, successful study design and execution, community-building experience, and detailed communication skills, particularly in documentation writing, are essential.
- Job Description: The postdoctoral researchers will be responsible for conducting research on open source hardware within the health space, the OSHWA certification, and policies affecting healthcare. They will work with the open hardware health community to gather input and findings, synthesize and analyze workshop and interview results, develop documentation and case studies, and contribute to the development of a health hardware certification process. Duties also include conducting and documenting research, attending meetings and workshops, collaborating with the community on programs, and assisting with written reports.
