PhD in Single-Molecule Biophysics Research:

We are seeking a passionate and driven individual to join our team as a PhD Student and contribute to the pivotal exploration of antibiotic resistance in bacteria, particularly focusing on the molecular mechanisms involved in bacterial RNA metabolism.

PhD Scholarship Opportunity in Single-Molecule Biophysics Research

Designation: PhD Student in the Laboratory of Single-Molecule Biophysics

Research Area: The project specifically targets understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying bacterial RNA metabolism, emphasizing the characterization of protein interactions involving RNase E, a key enzyme in RNA processing and degradation in A. baumannii.

Location: International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB), Warsaw

Eligibility/Qualification:

  1. MSc degree in biology, biotechnology, or related field.
  2. Strong understanding of molecular biology and biochemistry principles.
  3. Hands-on laboratory experience.
  4. Prior exposure to RNA, protein purification, or microscopy techniques is advantageous.
  5. Proficient in English communication, both oral and written.
  6. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will utilize techniques such as affinity purification and mass spectrometry to identify components of the RNA degradosome in Acinetobacter baumannii. Additionally, the student will employ biochemical methods and single-molecule microscopy to investigate the functional roles of these proteins in RNA metabolism.
