Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Citizenship: Scholarship is open only to non-Swedish citizens with a PhD degree or equivalent from outside Sweden.
  • Academic Requirements:
  • PhD in a relevant subject (e.g., biochemistry, protein chemistry, molecular biology, neurochemistry).
  • PhD must not be older than 5 years.
  • The candidate must not have been previously employed by Linköping University.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity are essential.

Job Description:

The position involves using protein science tools and animal models to study amyloidogenic proteins encoded by virus genomes, including Herpes zoster, Varicella zoster, and SARS-CoV-2. The project will include:

  • Protein production and cross-seeding experiments in vitro.
  • In vivo experiments with mouse models to explore amyloid formation related to neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Training in mouse handling, protein production, and amyloid detection.

You will work in a BSL3 lab equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for biophysical measurements, supported by a core facility that allows in-depth research into neurodegenerative diseases.

Appointment and Conditions:

  • Start Date: November 1, 2024, or by agreement.
  • Duration: The scholarship can last for up to two years.
  • Salary: SEK 25,000 per month (tax-free).
  • Additional Funding: Conference participation funding is available.
