Postdoctoral Fellow in Environmental Chemistry: The Department of Environmental Science at Stockholm University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Contaminant Chemistry Unit. This is an open research-focused position, with the successful candidate encouraged to propose a 2-year research project that complements the department’s current strengths in pollutant behavior, contaminant discovery, and the development of analytical tools. The role provides access to advanced lab facilities and mentoring, fostering an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge research.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A PhD or equivalent degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • The degree must have been completed within the last three years (exceptions may be made for parental leave, sick leave, or other circumstances).
  • Strong research skills and a research proposal that complements existing research in the Contaminant Chemistry Unit.

Job Description:
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for:

  • Leading experimental design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Publishing research findings in collaboration with their project team.
  • Collaborating with multiple research groups within the department.
  • Utilizing cutting-edge equipment, including mass spectrometers and fieldwork sampling tools.
  • Working closely with full-time lab staff for training and troubleshooting.
  • Optional teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels is available, along with pedagogical training opportunities.

Available Resources:

  • Funding for salary, consumables, travel, and instrument time.
  • Full access to instrumental and wet lab facilities shared across the department, including advanced mass spectrometers (Orbitrap, ion mobility, quadrupole) and GC-LC systems.
  • Opportunities for additional external funding and collaboration with external organizations, including the biospecimen bank at the Swedish Museum of Natural History.
