Research Area:
The research will focus on the synthesis of novel polymers and the engineering of dynamic hydrogel biomaterials for the creation of injectable, 3D printable, and patternable cell culture materials/bioinks. Emphasis will be placed on the practical applications from vascularization and osteochondral regeneration to the creation of living materials with a bacterial/yeast component.
Location:
Maastricht University, Netherlands
Eligibility/Qualification:
We are seeking a proactive and creative thinker with an interest in working on a challenging project at the interfaces of chemistry, biomaterials, and bioengineering. Candidates should have excellent knowledge of scientific English for listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Knowledge of Dutch is not required. Candidates without a Master’s degree are encouraged to apply.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will work on a fully funded 4-year PhD position, focusing on the synthesis, characterization, and development of novel supramolecular biomaterials for creating responsive and dynamic bioinks. This position is part of a team that is dedicated to applying hydrogel systems to the creation of controllable 3D environments for tissue engineering, with a specific focus on developing life-like materials to interface with living cells.
