Postdoc-EULIAA Project (f/m/d): The Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) is offering a full-time Postdoc position in the Department of Optical and Rocket Soundings. The position, starting on 01.11.2024, is part of the EU-funded “EULIAA” project, focusing on experimental atmospheric physics, particularly in optical remote sensing and lidar system development.
Designation: Postdoc
Research Area: Experimental atmospheric physics, focusing on optical remote sensing of the stratosphere, mesosphere, and lower thermosphere using transportable lidar systems.
Location: Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Kühlungsborn, Germany (near the Baltic Sea).
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, environmental sciences, or a related field.
- Experience with experimental methods (e.g., spectroscopy, laser physics).
- Strong programming skills in Julia, Delphi, or C/C++.
- Experience in construction and 3D printing is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
- Good communication skills for presenting research findings.
Job Description:
The selected candidate will work on the development of new lidar systems and measurement techniques for atmospheric physics. The role involves collaborating with industrial partners, advancing optics, laser physics, spectroscopy, and additive manufacturing, as well as software development for lidar control and data evaluation. The position is part of the EU-funded “EULIAA” project and includes working on compact lidar systems (VAHCOLI).
