Research Fellow (Bioimaging Developer): The University of Birmingham is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our interdisciplinary research team in the Centre for Membrane Proteins and Receptors (COMPARE). The focus of this role is to develop an AI-driven automated platform for high-throughput fluorescence imaging and data analysis applied to cell signaling and drug discovery.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent field.
  • Normally a PhD or equivalent qualifications on a relevant topic.
  • High level analytical capability and proficiency in scientific software and programming languages (Python, LabVIEW).
  • Ideally, knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and JAX.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop an AI-driven automated platform for high-throughput 5D fluorescence imaging.
  • Analyze and interpret data to extract quantitative information.
  • Contribute to writing bids for research funding.
  • Supervise students and contribute to developing new research models, techniques, and methods.
  • Use high performance computing resources for machine learning development.
  • Present research outputs and disseminate findings in academic publications and seminars.
