Eligibility/Qualification:
- A degree in Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry (minimum standard 2:1)
- PhD in Organic Chemistry (or about to obtain)
- Experience in synthetic organic chemistry, particularly multistep chemical synthesis
- Competency in analytical techniques such as 1D/2D NMR and MS for compound characterization
- Desirable: Experience in carbohydrate synthesis, solid-phase peptide synthesis, and chemical labeling of biomolecules
Job Description:
The successful candidate will join the Cochrane Lab as part of the ERC Starting Grant project NEW HOPE, which is funded by UKRI Guarantee. Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering research activities related to the project
- Conducting independent research in organic synthesis
- Supervising PhD students and undergraduate project students
- Managing day-to-day lab activities and health and safety protocols
- Collaborating with external partners (e.g., Fundación MEDINA)
- Contributing to outreach activities
- Maintaining strong communication and presentation skills
