– Peer-reviewed publications or quality of the master’s thesis
– Experience working with insects in a laboratory is a plus but not mandatory

Description

The doctoral student will work closely with supervisor Stephen De Lisle as part of the newly forming Evolutionary Biology group at Karlstad University. The project involves using Drosophila melanogaster to understand how various factors influence sexual dimorphism relating to diet and nutrition. The role allows the student to pursue research aligned with their interests, including genomics, gene expression analysis, behavior, metabolism, and eco-evolutionary interactions.

Doctoral students will be expected to:

  • Devote time to their studies (240 credits for a Doctorate and 120 for a Licentiate).
  • Engage in independent work while contributing to the department’s activities.
  • Potentially take on teaching and administrative duties (up to 20% of full-time).
