Research Area

The project focuses on developing miniaturized, high-density, and scalable brain-machine interfaces (BMI) through the use of innovative wireless electrodes known as ‘Neural Dots’. This research aims to improve understanding and treatment of ophthalmic and neural disorders through enhanced neural recording and stimulation techniques.

Location

Fondation Asile des Aveugles, situated along Lake Leman in the city center of Lausanne, Switzerland, close to both the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Master’s degree in neuroscience, life science, or a relevant discipline.
  • An interest in research that spans fundamental studies in rodents, data science, and neurotechnology.
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.

Description

The awarded candidate will conduct research involving:

  • Evaluating the efficacy of miniaturized wireless electrodes in laboratory rodents.
  • Performing histological assessments to study brain trauma related to electrode insertion.
  • Collaborating with team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Innovating and developing new ideas within the project’s scope.
