PhD Position in Nanohybrid Research: The Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) at the University of Valencia, Spain, is inviting applications for a fully-funded PhD position in the (Photo)Chemistry Reactivity Group (PRG). The project focuses on developing photoactive nanohybrids and nanoheterostructures for light-driven applications. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary research institute recognized as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence, under the guidance of Prof. Julia Pérez Prieto.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Mandatory:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent.
    • Admission to a PhD programme at the University of Valencia at the time of hiring.
  • Preferred:
    • Master’s degree in Sustainable Chemistry or equivalent.
    • English proficiency (B1 level certificate or equivalent).
    • Experience in:
      • Synthesis of organic ligands.
      • Preparation of photoactive materials.
      • Characterization of photoactive materials.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will:

  • Join the (Photo)Chemistry Reactivity Group (PRG) at ICMol.
  • Work on the project titled Selectively matching nanohybrids for light-driven applications funded by the Prometeu Programme (CIPROM/2022/057).
  • Design and develop nanohybrids and nanoheterostructures using photoactive organic-inorganic materials.
  • Characterize materials’ structural and photophysical properties using state-of-the-art optical spectroscopy techniques.
  • Engage in a dynamic and international research environment, gaining expertise in advanced materials science and photoactive nanosystems.
