PhD Student / Postdoctoral Fellow at FMP, Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie, Germany

Postdoc in Germany
The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) is inviting applications for a PhD student or postdoctoral fellow position in the Structural Chemistry & Computational Biophysics research unit. This opportunity entails investigating K2P channels and their role in various pathophysiological conditions.

Designation

PhD Student / Postdoctoral Fellow (Ref. 13/2024)

FeatureDetails
Research AreaMolecular Pharmacology
LocationBerlin, Germany
EligibilityMaster’s degree in Biophysics, Chemistry, Biology, or Bioinformatics
Last Date to ApplyJanuary 31, 2025

Research Area

The research focuses on two-pore-domain potassium (K2P) channels, which are vital for regulating membrane potential and cellular excitability. Dysregulation of K2P channels is linked to numerous health conditions, making them significant targets for drug development.

Location

Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP), Berlin, Germany

Eligibility / Qualification

  • A Master’s degree in Biophysics, Chemistry, Biology, or Bioinformatics.
  • Experience or solid understanding of structural or computational biology.
  • Additional experience in ion channels and transporters is highly encouraged.

Description

The chosen PhD student or postdoctoral fellow will:

  • Engage in an interdisciplinary research consortium spanning Berlin, Kiel, and Hamburg.
  • Contribute to the cryo-EM structural analysis and refinement of K2P channels.
  • Develop and implement advanced molecular dynamics techniques to study gating dynamics.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should:

  1. Visit the FMP homepage and navigate to “Stellenangebote/Jobs.”
  2. Click on the relevant advertisement.
  3. Complete the online application by submitting a motivation letter, CV, names and contacts of two references, and copies of degree certificates.

Last Date for Apply

Applications must be submitted no later than January 31, 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant research community focused on impactful molecular pharmacology research. Applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. For more details or inquiries, please contact Prof. Han Sun at hsun@fmp-berlin.de.
