Research Area
The research focuses on two-pore-domain potassium (K2P) channels, which are vital for regulating membrane potential and cellular excitability. Dysregulation of K2P channels is linked to numerous health conditions, making them significant targets for drug development.

Eligibility / Qualification
- A Master’s degree in Biophysics, Chemistry, Biology, or Bioinformatics.
- Experience or solid understanding of structural or computational biology.
- Additional experience in ion channels and transporters is highly encouraged.
Description
The chosen PhD student or postdoctoral fellow will:
- Engage in an interdisciplinary research consortium spanning Berlin, Kiel, and Hamburg.
- Contribute to the cryo-EM structural analysis and refinement of K2P channels.
- Develop and implement advanced molecular dynamics techniques to study gating dynamics.
