Location: University Hospital Cologne, Germany

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed university degree (Master’s level) in Psychology, Neuroscience, Engineering, Physics, Biology, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Strong proficiency in English for scientific presentations and publications.
  • Ideally, programming skills and experience in conducting statistical analyses.
  • Motivation to work with Parkinson’s patients.
  • Previous experience with electrophysiological data or behavioral research is beneficial.

Job Description:

  • Plan and conduct behavioral experiments with neurological patients, focusing on Parkinson’s disease and impulse control disorders.
  • Accompany intraoperative electrophysiological measurements for research purposes.
  • Conduct computer-based analysis of local field potentials (LFP) and imaging data.
  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team including doctors, psychologists, and linguists.
  • Participate in experimental studies conducted before, during, and after electrode implantation.
  • Evaluate electrophysiological data in relation to the anatomy/electrode position.
  • Publish at least two scientific papers as the first author during the doctoral program.
  • Work in a structured research environment with access to established methods, protocols, and preliminary data.
