Postdoctoral Researcher – A. Pedley Lab: The Pedley Research Group at the Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa, is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher in cellular biophysical chemistry to explore cellular organization and regulation of metabolism. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Previous postdoctoral experience is not required.

Job Description:

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cancer cells in a sterile BSL-2 environment according to safety protocols.
  • Generate reporter-based stable cell lines using lentiviral and genome editing methods (e.g., CRISPR).
  • Conduct qualitative and advanced quantitative fluorescence microscopy analyses.
  • Extract and purify proteins or protein assemblies from cancer cells for proteomic and structural evaluations.
  • Supervise and train junior lab members in biochemical and cellular techniques.
  • Stay updated on relevant research through literature searches and developments in the field.
  • Prepare research materials for publications and presentations, and share findings at scientific meetings.
  • Maintain detailed experimental records in a laboratory notebook.
  • Contribute to ongoing experiments by suggesting innovative approaches or protocol amendments.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers at the University of Iowa and beyond.
