PhD Position – Memristive Devices: The Collaborative Research Center-Transregio “Future Electronics by Active Devices in Three Dimensions (TRR 404)” is offering a PhD position focused on developing area-dependent memristive devices aimed at enhancing in-memory computing, contributing to the challenges of energy-efficient hardware in response to climate change.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Excellent Master’s degree in Physics, Material Science, or Electrical Engineering with a focus on semiconductor technology or nanotechnology.
  • Strong knowledge of solid-state physics and semiconductor physics.
  • Experience in laboratory and cleanroom work.
  • Proficiency in programming (Python or Matlab).
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
  • Willingness to work in an international team and an open communication style.

Description:

The selected candidate will engage in:

  • Optimization of growth processes for memristive oxide heterostructures.
  • Characterization of thin films and heterostructures via X-ray diffraction and in-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
  • Fabrication of nanoscale devices in cleanroom facilities.
  • Electrical characterization of memristive devices.
  • Development of physical device models.
  • Collaboration on device parameters and performance with scientists, and publication of results.
