PhD Position – Memristive Devices: The Collaborative Research Center-Transregio “Future Electronics by Active Devices in Three Dimensions (TRR 404)” is offering a PhD position focused on developing area-dependent memristive devices aimed at enhancing in-memory computing, contributing to the challenges of energy-efficient hardware in response to climate change.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Excellent Master’s degree in Physics, Material Science, or Electrical Engineering with a focus on semiconductor technology or nanotechnology.
- Strong knowledge of solid-state physics and semiconductor physics.
- Experience in laboratory and cleanroom work.
- Proficiency in programming (Python or Matlab).
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
- Willingness to work in an international team and an open communication style.
Description:
The selected candidate will engage in:
- Optimization of growth processes for memristive oxide heterostructures.
- Characterization of thin films and heterostructures via X-ray diffraction and in-situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
- Fabrication of nanoscale devices in cleanroom facilities.
- Electrical characterization of memristive devices.
- Development of physical device models.
- Collaboration on device parameters and performance with scientists, and publication of results.
