Pre & Postdoctoral Fellowships - The Getty Foundation

Doctoral Scholarship in Thermodynamics and Energetics: A doctoral scholarship is available for research in thermodynamics and energetics of out-of-equilibrium quantum systems, focusing on optimizing energy costs in quantum computing. This position is part of the OECQ project and is hosted at MajuLab, CQT, Singapore.

Doctoral Scholarship in Thermodynamics and Energetics of Out-of-Equilibrium Quantum Systems

Designation

Position Title: Doctoral Researcher
Contract Type: CDD Doctorant
Duration: 36 months
Start Date: November 3, 2025

Research Area

  • Thermodynamics and Energetics of Open Quantum Systems
  • Quantum Computing Technologies
  • Quantum Stochastic Thermodynamics

Location

Workplace: MajuLab, Centre for Quantum Technologies, Singapore

Eligibility / Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Quantum Physics or equivalent
  • Previous internships in theoretical quantum optics and quantum thermodynamics are advantageous
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and fundamental research questions

Description

The doctoral candidate will conduct research on the energetic cost of processes supported by out-of-equilibrium quantum systems. This project aims to analyze how these costs relate to the irreversibility of processes and entropy production, with implications for quantum technologies. The research will involve collaboration with experimental teams and a focus on innovative modeling approaches to capture energy flows in quantum systems influenced by various types of noise.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit the following documents:

  • A detailed CV
  • A cover letter explaining their interest and fit for the position
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Certified transcripts of the last three years of academic study

Last Date to Apply

Application Deadline: March 10, 2025, at 23:59 (Paris time)

This scholarship offers a unique opportunity to work on pioneering research with significant implications for quantum technologies, paired with strong support for conference participation and collaborations.
