Eligibility/Qualification:
Candidates must hold, at the time of contract initiation, an internationally recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in Physics, Photonics, Optics, or a relevant field.

The candidate should have:

  • Experience working with optical techniques.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members, supervisors, and researchers.
  • Organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Creativity and initiative with the ability to independently manage project implementation.
  • Interest in art and history.
  • Good level of English in spoken and written form.
  • Strong communication skills.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for studying how to apply optical techniques to recover information from old wall paintings, identifying their composition, status, and other relevant aspects for historical heritage preservation. The candidate will closely collaborate with La Pedrera and be part of the Super-resolution Light Microscopy & Nanoscopy (SLN) Research Facility at ICFO, led by Dr. Pablo Loza-Alvarez. The facility is equipped with advanced microscopy techniques that exceed the current commercial state-of-the-art.

The contract is offered for a period of 1 year. Salaries for ICFO Postdoctoral positions are assigned by the Selection Committee based on experience, seniority, and assigned tasks, with compensation levels aligned with national Ramon-y-Cajal fellowships or higher, depending on qualifications. A family allowance is also available upon request and approval for candidates with family responsibilities.
