PostDoc or Scientist on Material Dynamics: Empa is seeking a highly motivated PostDoc or Scientist to join the Technology and Society Laboratory (TSL). The successful candidate will work on systemic aspects of transforming a carbon-emitting society into a carbon-binding one, addressing the urgent need to reduce fossil fuel reliance and enhance atmospheric CO2 remediation.

Job Description:

  • Develop a model to investigate strategies to increase the dynamic supply of secondary raw materials and explore the effects on transition pathways.
  • Collect, update, and consolidate data for assessing secondary raw materials potential, focusing on end-of-life vehicles, waste batteries, and waste electronics.
  • Analyze systematic effects of carbon-based materials on socio-economic metabolism and their impact on energy demand.
  • Integrate material flows with energy systems to explore interdependencies.
  • Manage Empa’s contribution to the Horizon Europe project RawClic.
