RequirementDescription
Educational BackgroundMaster’s degree with PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
SkillsetExtensive knowledge of X-ray methods, synchrotron science, catalysis, energy storage, and programming (ideally Python).
Language ProficiencyFluent in written and spoken English.
Work StyleIndependent, self-motivated, with excellent teamwork skills.
ExperienceExperience in programmatic approaches and willingness for regular business trips.

Job Description

  • Design and develop a modular high throughput sample environment for chemical hydrogen storage investigations under realistic conditions.
  • Optimize and test the sample environment for reactors in serial production for operando studies.
  • Conduct operando investigations of catalyst structures using high energy X-ray methods (scattering, spectroscopy, imaging) at in-house and synchrotron beamlines.
  • Investigate relationships between catalyst structure, morphology, and performance (reactivity, selectivity, efficiency) under realistic long-term deployment conditions.
  • Coordinate and execute synchrotron beam times and collaborate with other groups within INW.
  • Present research results at international conferences and contribute to scientific publications and project reports.
  • Supervise PhD and other students, support in establishing the institute, and assist in writing grants for third-party funding.
