Research Assistant Position: Osnabrück University is inviting applications for a Research Assistant position at the Department of Ecology, School of Biology/Chemistry. The successful candidate will contribute to a DFG-funded research project focusing on the emergence and self-organization of bacterial metabolism in cross-feeding bacteria consortia.

Eligibility/Qualification
Required Qualifications:
- Completed university degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in biology or a related field
- Solid knowledge of molecular biological methods
- Practical experience with microbiological techniques
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
Desirable Qualifications:
- Excellent university degree
- Strong motivation and curiosity
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
- Structured and independent working style
- Experience in high-resolution fluorescence microscopy and microfluidics
- Practical experience in mass spectrometry
- Good working knowledge of statistical analysis
- Sound knowledge of ecological and evolutionary concepts
- Basic knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python or R)
Job Description
- Participate in the DFG-funded project.
- Generate and characterize bacterial mutants.
- Perform co-culture experiments with various bacterial strains.
- Analyze bacterial cluster formation using laser diffractometry and fluorescence microscopy.
- Investigate bacterial behaviors at the single-cell level using microfluidics and flow cytometry.
- Quantify amino acid production and metabolic fluxes via mass spectrometry.
- Collaborate with national and international research partners.
