PhD Fellowship in Carbon Capture: Aarhus University is inviting applications for a PhD fellowship within the Biological and Chemical Engineering programme. The project focuses on the conversion of CO2 from flue gas into renewable fuel (e-methane) utilizing biological processes.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Relevant master’s degree in biological, chemical, or process engineering.
  • Preferably hands-on experience in three or more of the following areas:
    • Biological reactors (batch or continuous)
    • Gas-liquid mass transfer principles
    • Process or reactor modeling
    • Handling pure or complex anaerobic microbial cultures
    • Chemical and microbiological analytical techniques
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English.

Job Description:
The candidate will join the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Center (CORC) and will:

  • Research the use of methanogens for CO2 conversion to e-methane.
  • Develop new reactor systems for CO2 capture and conversion.
  • Focus on the dynamics of biological reactors while working at the intersection of chemistry, microbiology, and engineering.
  • Contribute to student supervision, teaching, and daily operations of the research group.
