Research Associate in Cell Signalling: The University of Oxford’s Department of Biochemistry is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Research Associate to explore the molecular mechanisms guiding the Wnt/beta-catenin signalling pathway. This role involves a multidisciplinary approach including biochemistry, cell biology, and structural biology.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A PhD/DPhil or near completion of a PhD/DPhil in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in molecular biology techniques, particularly recombinant DNA techniques.
  • Proficiency in expression and purification of recombinant proteins and biochemical/biophysical characterization methods.
  • Knowledge and experience in mammalian cell culture and associated techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of writing for publication and presenting research.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will:

  • Investigate the mechanisms of Wnt pathway activation and termination at the plasma membrane.
  • Build on previous successes in the biochemical reconstitution of the beta-catenin destruction complex.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art tools such as CRISPR approaches and super-resolution microscopy to study cytoplasmic signal transduction protein regulation.
  • Work both independently and as part of a collaborative team to achieve research objectives.
