Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in microfluidics and fluid mechanics.
  • Strong programming skills in MATLAB; experience with Verasonics ultrasound imaging systems is a plus.
  • Good communication and writing skills in English.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Investigate acoustic response variations in monodisperse microbubbles upon molecular binding.
  • Work with microfabrication, ultrasound imaging, bubble design, and fluid dynamics to enable acoustic discrimination between bound and freely circulating microbubbles.
  • Design, fabricate, and characterize viscoelastic capillary phantoms using hydrogel materials and cleanroom techniques.
  • Perform acoustic scattering and attenuation measurements.
  • Develop imaging and characterization strategies with a Verasonics NXT ultrasound system.
  • Collaborate with and potentially supervise PhD students.
