PhD Position in Molecular Biology: A prestigious scholarship is available for a PhD position focusing on the study of Midichloria, an intriguing intracellular symbiont in ticks. This research aims to uncover the mechanisms of mitochondrial invasion by intracellular bacteria, contributing to our understanding of host-symbiont interactions.
Designation
PhD Student (Part-time Researcher)
Location
Institute of Parasitology, Biology Centre CAS, České Budějovice, Czech Republic

Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in biology or related life science field (to be completed before the start of the PhD)
- Experience with cell biology, microbiology, or molecular biology techniques
- Basic familiarity with microscopy, biochemical, or molecular methods
- Good communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment
- Strong interest in experimental research and fundamental biological questions
Description
The successful PhD candidate will explore the biological mechanisms by which Midichloria invades the mitochondria of various tick species. The project will investigate mitochondrial physiologies, stress responses, redox processes, and symbiont localization through advanced imaging and biochemical techniques. Additionally, the student will examine the potential of Midichloria to maintain its targeting capacity in diverse biological systems.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should prepare the following documents in one single PDF:
