Eligibility / Qualification

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Educational Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (advanced level) or at least 240 ECTS credits, including 60 ECTS at advanced level
  • Minimum 60 ECTS at advanced level, including an independent thesis of at least 15 ECTS
  • Background in Informatics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Automation Technology, or other closely related fields

Language Requirement

  • English proficiency equivalent to Swedish English 6
  • Accepted tests include:
    • IELTS: Overall 6.5
    • TOEFL: 90
    • PTE: 62 (or equivalent)

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Manufacturing systems modeling and Discrete Event Simulation (DES)
  • Digital twins
  • Machine learning and reinforcement learning
  • AI-based production control and optimization
  • Multi-objective optimization and predictive modeling
  • Programming skills in Python, C++, or similar
  • Experience with industrial collaboration
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage research projects

Job Description

  • Conduct doctoral research (80%) in simulation-based and AI-driven production optimization
  • Develop digital twins and AI-driven decision support systems
  • Apply reinforcement learning and predictive modeling for real-time adaptive production control
  • Optimize production sequencing, resource allocation, and energy-efficient scheduling
  • Contribute to teaching and administrative duties (20%)
  • Collaborate closely with industry partners and research teams
