Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Master’s degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, photonics, or a similar discipline.
  • Understanding of semiconductor device physics, especially optical devices.
  • Ability to simplify complex physical behaviors into manageable parameters for efficient modeling.
  • Proficiency in experimental characterization techniques and data analysis.
  • Programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB.
  • An eagerness to learn and collaborate in the field of photonics.

Description

The selected candidate will:

  • Develop optimized compact models for optical amplifiers in PIC design.
  • Design and test structures to isolate key physical effects in InP-based Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers.
  • Conduct electro-optical measurements and analyze data for characterizing active photonic components.
  • Collaborate closely with teams in process engineering, PDK development, and PIC design.
  • Validate models through rigorous experimental processes and integrate them into Process Design Kits (PDKs).
  • Contribute to European initiatives in photonics.
