Research Area

The project focuses on the development of soft and adhesive neuronal implants aimed at enhancing neural interfacing technology, particularly targeting applications in retinal recording and stimulation.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Education: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Skills/Qualifications:
    • Proven expertise in experimental design.
    • Experience in at least one of the following: signal processing, electrophysiology, or electrochemical characterization.
    • Strong academic background with peer-reviewed publications.
    • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Description

The selected candidate will be supervised by Prof. Yael Hanein and will work on:

  • Optimizing adhesive coatings for soft films to enhance neuronal tissue anchoring.
  • Electrode development for improved recording and stimulation capabilities.
  • Engaging in ex vivo and in vivo assessments of sensors for safety and functionality.

The candidate will also have opportunities for international experience through secondments at IMDEA Nanoscience in Spain and the European Brain Council in Belgium, along with specialized training in microfabrication, electrophysiology, and biomaterials.
