Scholarship Description & Work Duties
As a doctoral student, you will be both admitted as a student and employed at Lund University. Your time will primarily be devoted to doctoral studies, which include participating in research projects, doctoral-level courses, seminars, and conferences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Researching acoustic properties of relevant tissues and anatomical structures.
- Developing computer-based 3D finite element models (FEM) of acoustic wave propagation.
- Collecting and analyzing acoustic, mechanical, and anatomical data from toothed whales.
- Developing and using computational and analysis code in MATLAB, COMSOL, or equivalent environments.
- Collaborating with researchers across physics, marine mammal research, and computational sciences.
- Communicating research results at scientific conferences and via publications.
Duties may also include up to 20% teaching and departmental work.
How to Apply
Applications must be written in English and submitted via the online application portal. Required documents include:
- CV and a cover letter stating your reasons for applying and how your background aligns with the project.
- Copies of issued study certificates and/or awarded degree certificates verifying general and specific admission requirements.
- Any other supporting documents you wish to be considered (grade transcripts, contact information for references, recommendation letters, etc.).
