Eligibility / Qualification
Required:
- PhD in Plant Breeding or related fields (e.g., Quantitative Genetics, Animal Breeding, Statistical Genetics, Population Genetics)
- Strong expertise in quantitative genetics and biostatistics (including AI-based approaches)
- Proficiency in programming (R/Python) and handling large datasets (genomic, transcriptomic, SNP data)
- Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken); German (B2) is an advantage
- Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication abilities
Desirable:
- Teaching and mentoring experience
- Experience in supervising research students
- Track record in acquiring and managing research projects
- Collaboration experience with academic and industry partners
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct independent postdoctoral research in quantitative genetics and predictive breeding
- Develop innovative data analysis pipelines using R/Python for large-scale datasets
- Advance classical and modern breeding methodologies
- Teach courses in plant breeding, quantitative genetics, experimental design, and biostatistics
- Supervise and mentor PhD, MSc, and BSc students
- Acquire third-party funding and manage research projects
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences
- Engage in science communication, outreach, and technology transfer
- Collaborate with academic institutions and industry stakeholders
