Research Area

This PhD project will investigate how the physical and biochemical properties of wound-like environments influence biofilm progression, integrating biomimetic reconstitution and Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) for real-time monitoring.

CIC biomaGUNE, located in the Science and Technology Park of Gipuzkoa, Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Education: Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Experience in extracellular matrix models is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with biofilm-related research and physicochemical or analytical techniques like TIRF microscopy or spectroscopy.
  • Language Proficiency: English proficiency required; tests (IELTS, TOEFL) needed unless exempt.

Job Description

The successful candidate will conduct research on biofilm dynamics, developing extracellular matrix models and utilizing plasmonic nanostructures for monitoring bacterial quorum sensing. Interdisciplinary training will be provided in biofabrication, nanomaterials, spectroscopy, and microbiology.
