Research Areas

  1. Sensitive Hydrogels for Therapeutic Delivery: Development of redox-sensitive hydrogels for targeted delivery of viral vectors and immunomodulatory reagents.
  2. Implantable Microfluidic Devices for Tumor Therapy: Design of microfluidic devices for controlled, repeated dosing of viral therapies to enhance localized immune activation.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A 2:1 Honours degree or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Microelectronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of hydrogel chemistry, drug delivery systems, microfluidics, and implantable devices.
  • Demonstrable English proficiency (written and spoken).
  • Candidates must not have resided or carried out activities in the UK for more than 12 months in the last 36 months prior to recruitment.

Job Description

  • Investigate and refine synthesis of hydrogels or fabricate implantable devices.
  • Conduct in vitro and in vivo testing to evaluate biocompatibility, cytotoxicity, and therapeutic efficacy.
  • Optimize key parameters for scalable production and assess device material biocompatibility.
  • Collaborate within the network for training on neurotechnologies.
