Eligibility / Qualification
Requirements:
- Doctoral degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, or an appropriate field (must be met by the time of employment decision).
- Documented experimental experience with gas flow systems.
- Background or experience in standalone mass spectrometry.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and in a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
- Experience in instrument development.
- Background in chemical ionization, Proton Transfer Mass Spectrometry (Ptr-MS), or Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry.
- Knowledge of atmospheric chemistry or gas-phase kinetics.
- Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with a focus on gender equality.
Job Description
The selected candidate will:
- Develop a proton transfer mass spectrometer (PTr-MS) for the detection of oxygenated organic radicals in ambient air.
- Characterize and optimize a state-of-the-art Time-of-Flight mass spectrometer and other instruments in laboratory and ambient air settings.
- Collaborate within the Nozière group at the Department of Chemistry.
