Eligibility / Qualification

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, or an appropriate field (must be met by the time of employment decision).
  • Documented experimental experience with gas flow systems.
  • Background or experience in standalone mass spectrometry.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
  • Experience in instrument development.
  • Background in chemical ionization, Proton Transfer Mass Spectrometry (Ptr-MS), or Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry.
  • Knowledge of atmospheric chemistry or gas-phase kinetics.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with a focus on gender equality.

Job Description

The selected candidate will:

  • Develop a proton transfer mass spectrometer (PTr-MS) for the detection of oxygenated organic radicals in ambient air.
  • Characterize and optimize a state-of-the-art Time-of-Flight mass spectrometer and other instruments in laboratory and ambient air settings.
  • Collaborate within the Nozière group at the Department of Chemistry.
