This is an excellent opportunity for a researcher interested in the intersection of advanced imaging technologies and cancer immunotherapy. The University of Eastern Finland is seeking a motivated candidate for a 3-year project based in Kuopio.


Summary

The A.I. Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences is conducting a cross-disciplinary project focused on preclinical cancer immunotherapy for triple-negative breast cancer. The researcher will join the multimodal imaging arm, working with PET and advanced MRI techniques to detect therapy-related cell death in preclinical models.

Job Description

As a Doctoral Researcher, your primary task is to carry out your research and complete a doctoral degree within four years. Your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and performing multimodal imaging experiments using preclinical animal models.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams within the consortium.
  • Analyzing data and creating high-quality scientific publications.
  • Engaging in scientific communication and project reporting.

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Education: Must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., biomedicine, pharmacy, biology, physics, or engineering). Students in the final stages of their degree may apply.
  • Academic Status: Must not already possess a doctoral degree and must be eligible/accepted into the Faculty’s Doctoral Programme.
  • Skills: Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Willingness: Must be comfortable working with preclinical animal models (training/accreditation will be provided).
  • Preferred Assets: Experience or interest in programming (Python, MATLAB), MRI/MRS, PET, or previous work in cancer biology/animal models.
