Research Area & Project Description

The project aims to realize and investigate versatile, ultrasensitive optomechanical instruments. Key aspects include:

  • Design & Fabrication: Utilizing nanostructured silicon nitride thin films via the local iNANO cleanroom (e.g., Electron beam lithography, atomic force microscopy).
  • Methodology: Employing optical techniques (interferometry) and simulating properties using Finite Element Methods.
  • Applications: Development of nanodrum microcavities and nano-guitars for pressure, temperature, and refractive index sensing, as well as label-free molecule detection and studies on radiation pressure.

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Applicants must hold a relevant Master’s degree or be in the process of completing at least one year of a Master’s degree.
  • Field of study: Physics, Nanosciences, or Engineering.
  • Experience with optics/photonics and/or nanofabrication is considered a strong advantage.

How to Apply

To apply, please follow these steps:

  1. Read the official Application guide thoroughly.
  2. Prepare a project description (you may copy the description provided in the original job posting).
  3. Submit your application via the online portal (the system opens on 1 June 2026).
  4. Select the August 2026 Call.
  5. Under the “Study” dropdown menu, ensure you select: “Nanomechanical orchestra for gas sensing and quantum optomechanics (Nogsqo)”.
