Eligibility & Qualifications
- Essential: PhD in synthetic chemistry, organic chemistry, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role.
- Required Skills:
- Strong foundation in modern synthetic and/or medicinal chemistry with hands-on bench expertise.
- Proficiency in standard analytical/purification techniques (NMR, HPLC, LC–MS).
- Strongly Preferred:
- Experience in single-electron chemistry (photochemistry and/or electrochemistry).
- Engineering aptitude (continuous/flow chemistry, reaction engineering, process development, or automation).
- Additional Assets: Experience with data science (Python, R), DoE (Design of Experiments), and a strong track record of scientific publication.
Job Description
The successful candidate will work within a collaborative, fast-paced environment to:
- Conceptualize and execute new synthetic methodologies.
- Purify and characterize complex chemical intermediates and final compounds.
- Apply and develop single-electron chemistry approaches to enable new bond disconnections.
- Utilize modern technologies such as continuous flow processing and automated high-throughput screening.
- Contribute engineering insights to experimental design and laboratory instrumentation.
- Communicate findings, author peer-reviewed publications, and present work at scientific meetings.
- Maintain high laboratory safety standards and precise documentation.
