Summary

- Category B: International PhD Students.

Note: Students and PhD students may also apply for a one-time travel grant, ranging from €50 to €1,500, depending on the distance between their home location and the host institution in Slovakia.
Research Area
Open to all academic disciplines, artistic fields, and research areas supported by eligible host institutions and research organizations (e.g., the Slovak Academy of Sciences) in Slovakia.

Slovakia (at various participating host higher education institutions or research organizations).
Eligibility/Qualification
- Nationality: Citizens of any country in the world (except citizens of Slovakia) are eligible to apply.
- Category A (Students): Must be enrolled in a university outside Slovakia, studying at the Master’s level (or having completed 2.5 years of university studies), and accepted by a Slovak host institution for a 1–2 semester mobility.
- Category B (PhD Students): Must be conducting their higher education or scientific training outside Slovakia and accepted by a Slovak institution eligible to carry out doctoral programs.
- Category C (Teachers/Researchers/Artists): Must be invited by a Slovak institution with a valid certificate of eligibility for research and development (non-business entity).
- Exclusions: Applicants cannot be enrolled for a full-degree program in Slovakia, have spent 15 or more months in Slovakia within the 36 months prior to the deadline, or concurrently receive other public scholarship funding for the stay (e.g., Erasmus+, CEEPUS).
Job Description (Program Objectives)
Depending on the specific category, selected scholarship holders are expected to:
- Undertake full-time academic studies and earn required credits at the host university (for students).
- Conduct dedicated research, scientific training, or artistic projects under the supervision/collaboration of a host institution in Slovakia.
- Deliver teaching activities, lead seminars, or participate in advanced academic research and development.
- Submit a detailed scholarship stay interim report (if the stay exceeds 6 months) and a final comprehensive report upon the completion of the mobility stay.
How to Apply
- Online Application: Submit your application and required attachments entirely online via www.scholarships.sk. Applications can only be completed when the online system is open (at least 6 weeks prior to the deadline).
- Required Documents: You must upload your CV, a detailed study/research/teaching motivation letter and program plan, recommendation letters (from university teachers or dissertation supervisors), confirmation of current studies or highest academic degree diploma, and a valid acceptance/invitation letter from a host institution in Slovakia.
- Physical Submission of Acceptance Letter: The original hard copy of the acceptance/invitation letter must be delivered by mail or courier to the SAIA office in Bratislava (Sasinkova 10, 812 20 Bratislava, Slovak Republic) no later than the 3rd working day after the application deadline by 12:00 p.m.
