Eligibility / Qualification

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Citizenship & Residence: Non-Russian citizenship and residing outside of Russia.
  • Age Limit: Between 25 and 39 years old.
  • Language: High level of English proficiency (C1 level or above).
  • Academic/Professional Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. degree OR
    • At least 3 years of work experience at academic institutions/think tanks OR
    • Ph.D. studies currently in progress.
  • Proposal: Submission of an original research proposal on the program’s topic.
  • Institutional Independence: No current employment, previous enrollment, or prior academic relations with MGIMO University.

Job Description

Program Activities & Deliverables

  • Conduct an original individual research project (15,000–25,000 characters with spaces) in English based on the submitted research proposal.
  • Work under the direct academic guidance of leading Russian IR scholars from MGIMO University.
  • Attend expert sessions hosted by universities, think tanks, and non-governmental organizations.
  • Visit policy-making institutions and gain first-hand insight into the Russian foreign policy agenda.

What the Organizers Cover

  • Round-trip travel from the fellow’s place of residence to Moscow and back.
  • Single-room accommodation in the MGIMO dormitory.
  • A one-time scholarship of RUB 45,000 for the duration of the program.

Note: Fellows are responsible for covering their own visa fees, medical insurance, and daily meals.

  2. Create Application: Navigate to the “My Projects” section, click “Create application,” and select the “InteRussia IR MGIMO 2026 (Autumn)” competition.
  3. Fill Information: Complete all mandatory fields, including research proposal, academic publications, and attach 2–3 recommendation letters.
  4. Submit: Click the “Submit Application” button in the “Apply” section and ensure the application status changes from “Preparing” to “Submitted.”
