Eligibility

  • Academic Requirements: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in criminology or a related field.
  • Skills: Experience in data collection and analysis is highly valued.
  • Language Proficiency: Applicants planning to complete a doctoral thesis in English (who do not have English as a first language or haven’t completed an English-based Master’s) must provide documentation of passing an official English test (e.g., IELTS band score: 7, TOEFL paper-based: 600, or TOEFL internet-based: 100) taken within the last five years.

Scholarship Description

As a PhD student, you will be expected to:

  • Develop and carry out an independent research project under supervision that meets international research standards.
  • Actively participate in the departmentโ€™s research environment and relevant national/international networks.
  • Complete a PhD training programme (corresponding to 30 ECTS).
  • Gain experience in teaching at one or more of the department programmes or engage in other forms of research dissemination.
  • Complete an external research stay outside of Aalborg University (preferably 3-6 months at a foreign research institution).
