Eligibility / Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field.
  • Degree must have been awarded within the last 5 years prior to application.
  • All degree requirements must be completed before starting the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research background in quantum optics and quantum information science.
  • Hands-on experience in the design, fabrication, and testing of integrated photonic devices and circuits.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with a record of presenting at conferences and publishing peer-reviewed papers.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter as well as collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Special & Security Requirements:

  • Export Control: Requires access to export-controlled technology; applicants must qualify without an export control license.
  • Credentialing: Must pass a Federal Tier 1 background investigation to receive a Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card or Local Site Specific Only (LSSO) determination for foreign nationals.
