Eligibility/Qualification
Essential Qualifications:
- PhD (or passed PhD viva) in plasma science, physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Essential Experience:
- Previous research on plasma-liquid systems, incorporating both experimental work and numerical simulation or modelling.
Advantageous Experience:
- Plasma source development
- Plasma diagnostics
- Reactor optimisation
- Analytical chemistry
Note on PhD Award:
If you are awaiting your PhD to be awarded, you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation of your PhD award, your salary will increase to Grade 7, spine point 31.
Job Description
The successful candidate will work closely with researchers at the University of Liverpool and collaborators at UCL. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, constructing, and optimising a plasma-liquid reactor based on an existing plasma source design.
- Combining experimental plasma science with numerical modelling to understand and improve nitrogen fixation pathways.
- Utilising analytical chemistry methods to quantify nitrogen-containing products and assess system performance.
- Contributing to the design and testing of the prototype system.
- Analysing experimental and simulation data.
- Publishing research findings.
The role is full-time and fixed-term for 10 months.
