Eligibility/Qualification
Required Skills and Experience:
- Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, completed within the last three years or expected soon.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Superconducting circuits
- Superconducting single-photon detectors (SSPDs)
- Quantum photonics
- Cryogenic measurements
- Microwave engineering
- Quantum optics
- Experience with device fabrication techniques (e.g., e-beam lithography, thin film deposition, dry etching).
- Proficiency in data acquisition and analysis, including programming languages like Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to scientific excellence.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with superconducting transmon qubits or other superconducting quantum devices.

Job Description
The Postdoctoral Appointee will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and characterizing superconducting single-photon devices for quantum information science applications. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting cutting-edge research on superconducting single-photon detectors and related quantum devices.
- Utilizing Argonne’s state-of-the-art nanofabrication facilities for device development.
- Performing cryogenic measurements to characterize device performance and explore novel quantum phenomena.
