Scientific Employee (Postdoc): TU Dortmund University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on the synthesis and investigation of new organic compound classes in the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. The position is for a period of two years and is funded by an ERC Starting Grant.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed university studies incl. doctorate in chemistry
  • Experience in multistep synthesis, chromatography and product characterization via NMR spectroscopy
  • Knowledge in synthesis of air-sensitive compounds (Schlenk line/Glovebox techniques)
  • Experience in main group chemistry, (in)organic chemistry or transition metal chemistry
  • Ideally, basic knowledge of theoretical calculations (optional)
  • Teamwork, communication and leadership skills
  • English language skills

Job Description:

The postdoctoral project involves the synthesis and investigation of new organic compound classes, including the synthesis of main group and/or transition metal complexes, as well as comprehensive instrumental characterization using various spectroscopic techniques. The researcher will work with the Hansmann group and will investigate new substance classes of organic chemistry such as strongly polarized olefins, stable diazoalkenes, and reactive vinylidenes. The position is for a period of two years and is funded by an ERC Starting Grant.
